Brian Eno Encourages Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby features a range of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of producers and composers. The song blends a fusion of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the area was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is above all making this cause better known and proving that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
